The Dance of Power
In Harmony with the Rhythms of Your Body, the Moon & the Cycles of Life

🌚 Happy New Moon in Libra
So I recently discovered that this month's New Moon (October 2025) was in the constellation of Libra. Although I don't usually follow astrology that much, I came across an article about the New Moon in Libra that piqued my curiosity and I was so inspired by the message and meaning behind it that I just had to share.
Ancient wisdom tells us that the New Moon, also known as the Dark Moon, is a time to pause and reflect on the lessons learned in the previous cycle and to use the wisdom gained to set your intentions for the new cycle ahead- a time to realign, refocus, and begin again.
Because Libra is considered the sign of balance, this particular moon invites us to explore what balance means to YOU personally- a sort of ‘cosmic prompt’ if you will, to discover a new equilibrium—not just as a concept, but as something you can feel and embody in your own body.
A Somatic Perspective on Balance
Many people think of balance as a static perfect state that, once achieved, remains constant and then you don't need to make any extra effort after that. But in reality, balance is much more fluid than that.
As a Somatic Movement Educator, I like to look to the body for wisdom and I like to find ways to apply this wisdom in my daily living experience. One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned through practicing somatic embodiment work is that the body is always seeking balance — but not in the way we usually think of it.
The body’s version of balance is called Homeostasis, the process by which living organisms maintain a stable internal environment in order to keep all vital functions working properly. But what’s fascinating about homeostasis is that it’s never static. The body doesn’t find balance once and then stays there forever—it’s constantly responding, adjusting, and readjusting to both internal and external changes in order to maintain its own equilibrium. As far as the body is concerned, when it comes to survival, balance is the name of the game.
When I think about how the body maintains homeostasis, I see our bodies as engaged in a dynamic dance that involves a moment-to-moment process of losing balance and returning to balance again and again. And so, in its truest sense, balance is not a destination but a living, breathing, ongoing practice.
Translating Your Body’s Wisdom into Daily Life
If we observe how our body maintains homeostasis, we have much to learn from it about how to live a more balanced life. But in order to be able to harness the wisdom of your body, first you need to meet two essential requirements:
You need to know you we need to be in balance — take time to reflect on what balance means to you and what you need in order to be in balance. And in those moments when you feel balanced, take time to notice what balance feels like in your body, the sense of peace, the ease in your breath, the calm in your belly and the clarity in your mind so that when you drift away from it, you can find your way back.
You need to be willing to let go of whatever interferes with your ability to stay in balance — take time to notice what throws you off-center (i.e. stress, overwork, toxic energy, negative thoughts) and make a commitment to yourself to intentionally do whatever needs to be done to return to balance.
In this crazy, often chaotic world that we live in, we spend so much time feeling stressed out and stuck in survival mode that most of us have forgotten what it even feels like to be centered and trying to stay in balance can feel like an impossible struggle. That’s why developing a regular practice that helps you ground and return to your center is so important for your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Cycles of Balance
As women, we are very fortunate to have built-in process that allows us to reconnect with our center and get into harmony with the cycles of life, right inside our bodies. I'm referring to our monthly menstrual cycle, which coincidentally mirrors the four phases of the moon.
Each month, our female bodies naturally move through four distinct stages that reflect the New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Waning Moon. In the same way that the moon waxes and wanes, our bodies too expand and contract, shed and renew, providing us with a monthly reset and an opportunity to realign with nature’s wisdom and our own inner cyclical balance.
Unfortunately, many of us have become disconnected from our bodies and consequently we lead lifestyles that disrupt our natural cycles. Yet the ancient wisdom of our physiology hasn’t been lost because it lives within us. By relearning to live in harmony with our natural cycles instead of ignoring or trying to suppress them, maintaining balance stops being a struggle and becomes a natural state of being.
Perimenopause & the Dance of Power
As I have shared in the past, I have now entered the later stages of peri-menopause. For so long I relied on my menstrual cycle to provide me with my monthly reset that I just took it for granted. But now that I have stopped bleeding regularly every month, I find myself thrown completely off balance, as if my body has lost its compass and sense of direction.
The hormonal shifts that take place during this transition period affect every single aspect of a woman's life — from our emotions and energy levels to digestion, our ability to focus, our sleep cycle, motivation and everything else! As a result, this experience is making me even more aware of the continuous dance that my body is presently engaged in, as it tries to find its own balance amidst all the hormonal chaos.
Naturally, as you can understand, I find myself obsessed with the subject of balance and constantly brainstorming ways to stay centered during this chaotic period of my life, which is why finding this article about the New Moon in Libra was such a welcome coincidence that came with a surprisingly inspiring hidden message.
According to the article, the New Moon in Libra is not just about finding balance for the sake of balance but about learning to find your center so that you can access your power to create the experiences you want to have. Only when you feel centered, with a relaxed body, a clear mind and a calm and regulated nervous system are you able to allow your creativity to flow- the creative state needed to be able to attract and manifest new things. In other words, being in balance allows you to access your power within.
Thinking about balance in this new light was not only interesting but deeply inspiring, because it helped shift my focus from the suffering and the discomforts that come with peri-menopausal hormonal changes to the possibility of transforming this experience into a to an opportunity to embody our divine feminine power within.
May the New Balance be with You
A few days after reading the article, during one of my daily walks, I had the opportunity to reflect on the significance of the new moon in libra and how it related to my current life situation. And as I enjoyed the beautiful autumnal scenery of changing colors, falling leaves and watching all the squirrels running around gathering nuts to prepare for winter, I suddenly had an AHA moment.
And all of a sudden I started noticing all the synchronicities happening at once: the changes that are happening inside my body being reflected out in nature, combined with the message of the new moon in libra right at the beginning of a new lunar cycle, I literally felt like I was receiving a 'cosmic hug ' from the universe- a loving message from the Great Cosmic Mother telling me that I am not alone in my experience, that Mother Earth, the Moon and the universe are all going through the same journey with me and all the changes I am going through are part of the greater cycle of life that will lead to a new beginning.
Just like the changing seasons, these transitions are natural. Menstruation, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause are all part of nature’s design. Each one of these processes represents a season in a woman's life that comes with its lessons, challenges, and blessings. In the same way that we dress for the seasons in nature, we must also adjust to the seasons of our lives. The more you align with your body’s wisdom, the easier it becomes to live in balance and in harmony with life itself.
So during this New Moon in Libra, my wish for you is simple:
👍 May you give yourself permission to explore what balance truly means to you and have the opportunity to experience what homeostasis feels like inside your own body.
🌺 May you be able to let go of what no longer serves you so you can begin this new cycle from a place of balance and centered in your Divine Feminine Power.
💃 And may you enjoy finding your new balance as you learn to dance in harmony with the rhythms and seasons of your Life.
